The Best Triathlon To Run For Beginners

Triathlons are some of the most athletically demanding events in which a person can participate. It requires a large amount of not only physical conditioning, but a lot of mental toughness as well. Before you begin this process though, the question arises: How do I train for a triathlon? However, before thinking about training, you must first find a triathlon that is around your area and is not too difficult for you as a beginner.
A good triathlon for beginners is one called the Sprint Distance Triathlon. This triathlon involves about 400-500 yards of swimming, 9-15 miles of biking, and 3.1 miles of running. While the thought of running, biking, and swimming all of those distances is intimidating, it is possible to do, as thousands of people have successfully completed a triathlon. It requires a good balance of training between the three activities, to readily prepare yourself for the event.
The best way to train yourself for swimming is to practice swimming in a pool near you. Many pools are approximately 25 yards in length, and since the triathlon requires 500 yards, that means you must swim the length of the pool about 20 times to achieve the same distance. When you are first starting, do not worry too much about your swim speed, but focus more on just completing the 20 laps. As you progress through your training, start to focus more on speed and efficiency, especially once your heart and lungs have become more fit from your other training. If you decide to be more competitive, you should advance your training more by looking at methods to speed up your swimming, and learning to essentially ‘sprint swim’ in a pool for long periods of time. Your training for cycling and running should follow a similar process, with cycling starting out at about 10 miles, and running starting out at about two miles. The most important thing to remember is to be patient during your training and do not push yourself over the limit. Good luck!
